J Coates Carter is probably the most famous architect to have worked in Penarth.

 

He favoured the arts and crafts style and there are several houses in Penarth that we owe a debt of gratitude to him for, the most imprortant one is the beautiful Red House which he built as his home, featuring Swiss accents (his wife was Swiss) .
