Penarth Town Trails Revisited project - Test Tours

A chance to assist with our Town Trails Revisited Project and future plans for our Guided Walks events. Part of our Penarth Town Heritage Trail and National Local & Community History Month

Time & Location

19 May 2024, 14:00 – 15:30

Penarth, Penarth CF64, UK

About the Event

The Penarth Original Town Trails were a series of self-guided history walks around Penarth Town, created between 1974 & 2001. They have since become somewhat out-of-date, so we have created the Penarth Original Town Trails Revisited project (POTTR) to update help revise them, wiith new formatting, new content and new routes. We are also looking to  integrate them as  part of our Penarth Town Heritage Trail project.

Guided walks have always been a part of the Penarth [Civic] Society annual programmes of events so we are also looking to develop new ways to deliver them, with new persons as guides. We are also looking at other possible options such as multi-language, app and audio versions. (More information will be avaialble as the two projects progress)

As part of our revision process, (and to help us celebrate May as National Local & Community History Month*,) we have decided to ask our members and supporters to Get Involved. The walks we are offering here are partly historical guided tours and partly an interactive opportunity to help us review the content of the origianl trails with a view of updating them. We will be looking at what was included in the original trails, both historical and contempary (as direction guiding information), the current suitability of the routes and what else we could add to the new versions. Input and feeback from attendees will be welcome.
