About the Event

Constance Maillard, the Remarkable Reformer of Penarth.

A talk by Brenda Gibbins, one of our own.

Constance Maillard, 1880 -1984, was a pioneer in the care of mothers and children and in local politics, campaigner and initiator of countless organisations for the common good in Penarth. In April 2025, a hundred years after Mrs Maillard became first female Chair of the Penarth Urban Council, Mayor Cwenda Roberts unveiled a plaque in her honour in the Italian Gardens which Mrs Maillard had proposed. Brenda's talk will attempt to cover the range and effect of this amazing woman's activities.
