Penarth is exceptionally well served by its public
parks and gardens, giving it the reputation of the
'Garden by the Sea'. The four main formal parks
within the town are Alexandra Park, Windsor Gardens,
Belle Vue Park and the Italian Gardens situated on
the Esplanade. However, Penarth also has a wide
range of informal parks, recreation grounds, play
areas and pleasant open spaces both within the town
itself and along the sea front.
